david kinch - trombone
David Kinch is the Music Director/Conductor of the Vancouver Pops Orchestra in Vancouver, WA. He is one of the founders and current performers of the Southwest Washington Wind Symphony (www.swwindsymphony.org), sings with the Pacific Arts Ensemble, and is a founding member of SantaBONES! He has played trombone in the orchestra pit for many years including Evita, Big River, Fiddler on the Roof, and HMS Pinafore. After a series of illnesses sidelined him from his position as band and choir teacher at Jason Lee Middle School, David ventured into composing. His vocal works include, A Mass for a New Era, The Vintner*, and Screw the List, I Want Butterhorns!* David also composes and arranges for trombone quartet and quintet, brass quintet, band, and orchestra. His compositions have been performed by Pacific Arts Ensemble, Touch of Class vocal ensemble, SPARK Brass, Vancouver Brass Ensemble, and Portland State University jazz band. David has a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Communication from Western Washington University, A Bachelor of Arts in Music from Portland State University, and a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Portland State University.
