David Arrollado-Baritone Sax, B.Clr., Flute
David grew up in a musical household. Raised by his grandfather, a retired Navy Bandmaster, David grew up surrounded by music and began playing the flute when he was in 5th grade.
At nineteen David enlisted in the Army, serving as aChinese linguist. He later served in the active Army reserves, becoming 1st Sgt. of the 300th Army Band, Los Angeles until his retirement in 2003. He attended the Navy School of Music’s advanced senior music course, receiving the title of honor graduate
David graduated from California State University, Long Beach with a B.A. in music, classical emphasis. He later spent a year in the Masters program in jazz studies at USC. He has studied with Louis Van Taylor (saxophone), James Newton (flute), Louise DeTullio (flute) and Dr. John Barcellona (flute). He has participated in masterclasses with Jim Walker and Robert Dick, and has performed with Charles Owens, Eric Marienthal, and Tom Kubis.
David maintained a regular performance schedule while working as a full-time middle school band director and music educator until his retirement in 2017. He has performed and recorded throughout the Los Angeles area with Doc Rutherford’s Jazz Pacific Orchestra, Groove Therapy, Afro Beat Down, and many other bands.
