Pete soukup - Trombone
Pete Soukup recently moved into the Vancouver area from Chicago, having played trombone (weekends) professionally there for well over 30 years. He graduated from Augustana College after playing with the Concert Band, Orchestra, and Jazz Band. Professional groups he was a member of during that era included Clifton Manor, Brass Tax, and Something For The People.
He was the Music Director for high school productions of "Fiddler on the Roof" and "Camelot", in East Moline, Illinois, and has played as a pit orchestra member over the years for West Side Story, Annie, South Pacific, Brigadoon, Follies, West Side Story, The Music Man, My Fair Lady, and Wild Party, at Columbia College in Chicago. (Those are the shows he remembers anyway...)
Pete played at the Bristol Renaissance Fair for 12 years (summers) He has performed as a member of the Moody Memorial Church Easter Festival Orchestra, and the Moody Memorial Church Patriotic Orchestra. He also has been a member of the DuPage Symphony Orchestra, is an alternate with the West Suburban Symphony Orchestra, and has recorded with a local rock group, "The Houndz", for their CDs (available at Amazon.com.)
He was most recently the trombone player for the Chi-Town Showstoppers, (an R&B, Funk, Rock, and Jazz horn band), helped co-found the Cove Creek Brass Quintet, he played lead trombone for The FalconairesOrchestra, The Moonlighters (Dance Band) and the Chicago Metropolitan Brass Ensemble, as well as principal in the Chicagoland Pops Orchestra.
He is delighted to be invited to join Vanport Jazz, here in Vancouver.
